Tim Kluempers, the President of Heartland Rugby Supply

At 38 year of age, Tim Kluempers, the President of Heartland Rugby Supply continues to play the greatest game in the world. Like may of you, Tim began to play rugby after playing another competitive sport.

Tim came to rugby from a background in college football. (Tim played offensive guard at Benedictine College, where he was selected all conference in 1989-90.) Tim made his rugby home as a prop with the Kansas City Blues. During Tim's 17 year career with the Blues, Tim was selected to the Western Territorial Side from 1994-2005. In six of those years, Tim was selected Captain of the West. In addition, Tim received the highest honor an American rugby player can receive, he was selected to our national team, the Eagles. As an Eagle, Tim earned 5 caps and was a reserve in an additional 15 matches. Currently, Tim continues to play with the Kansas City Blues Brothers (the Blues +35 team) and Team America.

Tim understands the needs of rugby teams and its members. In this regard, Tim has dedicated the operation of Heartland Rugby Supply to assist the development of rugby in the Midwest and around the country, by providing the best equipment and materials to play the game. Canterbury of New Zealand’s core range of rugby boots has been completely redesigned for 2007. All of our boots have been designed with state of the art technologies and materials making them over 4 ounces lighter in the low cut and 6 ounces lighter in the mid range.

Our designers have teamed with former rugby stars . . . and together they have taken the needs from the field and incorporated them into our 2007 lineup. We have made the boot lighter, more resistant to poor weather conditions, while increasing control, stability and traction. We are introducing our third generation of our exclusive ‘laceloop’ support system, using six sets of laceloops and a locking lace that provides increased lace pressure without bruising and adds increased lateral and medial support.
